Hi! I meant to schedule a long essay for today’s post, but I blew past that deadline, so instead, you’re getting a grab bag of random but hopefully fun and helpful things. The essay will hopefully land next week — hope you’re having a good start to your week! xx Alisha

Note: There are mentions of pregnancy in this post. (You can opt-out of getting pregnancy/motherhood content here in your Settings > Downtime > toggle off Motherhood.)

Not relevant to today’s post, but I’m loving the Taylor x Taylor renaissance.

In the rose/bud/thorn format…

a peek at my over-ambitious list
  • 🌹 Rose: Having a quiet house to oneself is an introvert’s dream, and that’s what I enjoyed this weekend. Perhaps anticlimactic, but I used this as an excuse to clean and organize everything. I usually need a podcast or book to listen to while doing chores, so I got through half of Love, Theoretically by Ali Hazelwood (so far, it’s not the swooniest romance I’ve read, but it’s entertaining enough!) while chucking various miscellany into a “donate” pile. It was perfect.

I didn’t quite get through my whole (totally unrealistic) list, but I made a good dent; getting all our baby laundry done and tucked away into the dresser in their corresponding sections felt especially satisfying. I feel much better mentally; I’ve felt a strong pull recently to streamline things in the house and get rid of anything we don’t need or use (shout out to our local Buy Nothing group for facilitating the mass exodus of stuff.) People are telling me that this is called “nesting.” I call it making space, physically and mentally, for a whole new life. Emptying, in order to expand. Ready to fill to the brim again.
