I had a few requests for what I’ve found helpful postpartum, so below are a few things. (You can find most of the products here in a convenient Amazon list.) I’m of course not an expert as this is my first time experiencing postpartum, so please take my recs with that context in mind!

Postpartum Products

I’ll highlight just a few favorites, because most of the products on my list are pretty self-explanatory and not revolutionary…

  • These Bodily nursing + pumping bras. These bras are luxuriously silky so you don’t feel so…utilitarian, which was my biggest gripe with the other bras I tried. They’ve got just enough support and the material is thin and soft on your skin; I don’t like sleeping with heavy materials on, and in the postpartum phase I’ve found that if I need to wear a bra to sleep, they’ve got to be fairly thin and comfortable. They also come in pretty colors (I bought all of them) which is important because most maternity and postpartum items are just…ugly. Why sacrifice aesthetics when you’re already sacrificing so much else?! Lastly, the fact that you can both pump and nurse with these on is a big plus. Don’t forget to size up to account for your postpartum cup size.

  • Rael Disposable Underwear. These are 100% cotton, breathable, and unbelievably soft. This was way easier than fussing with pads, IMO. I tried the hospital underwear, Frida Mom, and Always underwear, and these are a thousand times better. I put these on a weekly subscription for a few weeks.

  • $30 Amazon sweatpants. So comfortable I ordered two. I lived in these for the first two weeks.

  • Silverette cups. I hesitated to purchase these at first because these are on the pricier side, but they’re now one of my most used items for nursing. I like that they’re easy to pop on after a session without messing with butters or other goops, and it really does help to soothe and heal faster.

  • Peri bottle that goes upside down. Because the one the hospital gives you is indeed subpar.

  • Honorable mention: a nursing cart that’s really just an IKEA (or similarly cheap) rolling cart. I resisted this at first because it felt too Pinterest mom-y, but…this thing now lives by my side in our living room. I put my water bottle in it, burping cloths, hand sanitizer, pumping stuff…really anything I need, all within arm’s reach.

Said nursing cart. Helpful!
