Trying something new today: Paid subscribers are getting this newsletter on the regular day (Friday), and free subscribers are receiving it two days later. 🫶
Hi! I wanted to send a full-length newsletter today, but my week got the best of me. So consider this a bit of a fun snack in between letters.
One thing I do want to do today is check in. How are we doing?? A lot is happening right now, and I’m curious how you’re weathering it all. Here are a few fun prompts so we can chat in the comments…
Group vibe check: How’s your brain feeling this week? One-word answers welcome.
What’s your cultural comfort food right now? Could be a rewatch, a reread, a nostalgic album on loop…
What made you *happy* this week? A moment, a read, a thing.
Wildcard: What should we all be buying from TJ’s or Costco???
As for me: Of course, the news has been wild and infuriating (she says, for the fourth month in a row). I didn’t panic sell stocks, but I did stay up late on Monday poking at our fixed-income portfolio and texting my friends about how they should all park their cash in treasury bills.1 Then I got lost in a bunch of investing Reddit threads where people were shouting at each other. In short, not a full-on spiral but a spiral nonetheless.
Also, I went to the mall yesterday to return two things from J.Crew that I bought at full price because they just went on sale. I did a little shimmy when I got the shorts I wanted for $30 instead of $60. Wherever I can save money right now, I will!!
I’m currently reading: Audition by Katie Kitamura. Highly recommend, more thoughts to come. My comfort read right now is Home Cooking by Laurie Colwin.
I’m currently watching: Nothing! After that White Lotus finale, I’m taking a break from TV to focus on reading.
TJ’s favorites always in my cart: Hold the Cones, freeze-dried berries and mangoes (mostly for Lily), and the Elote Corn Chip Dippers that I can crush in two sittings.
What’s making me happy: Please see below. :)
