Saving the second part of this post for after I've read the book; I'm intrigued! Thank you for the recommendation :)

The last book i read that really made me think about community, about immigration, about our family threads was "Of Women and Salt" a Book by Gabriela Garcia. I highly recommend. It's a small but mighty book.

I also read and keep thinking about Audition. Thanks for posting your thoughts on it.

Loved this, Alisha! I read Audition last week and loved its ambiguity. It’s been a while since I thought about a book so much after finishing it. Loved!

"literary metapuzzles" -- you've given me a term to use in book club when such reads come up in discussion! Great overview!

Thanks Chelsey! Means a lot coming from you. I'm challenging myself to write more of these.

Thank you for this Alisha! I adore Katie Kitamura and your discussion of Audition was spot on! I wasn't sure what to make of it first then like you, re-read and it has been lingering in my mind (in a good way).

The sign of a good book: when you want to re-read it immediately to dissect. I'm so glad you enjoyed!

This book is in my TBR pile — moving it to the top! Appreciated your thoughts (though I too skipped the second part for now), and the format of this post 💛 So glad you hit “Publish”!

By the way, I did read *Audition* based on your recommendation — and came back to read the rest of your post afterward! Both were so thoughtful and interesting.
